20-Year Appliance Protection Explained

If an eligible replacement appliance is provided during the protection period, the replacement remains protected under the same original protection period.

For example, if an eligible replacement is provided in Year 8, that replacement remains covered through the remaining period of the original 20-year term rather than beginning another twenty years.

The protection program recognizes two primary categories of eligible replacement:

• Normal-wear replacement — when normal functional wear or natural appliance aging reaches a reasonable replacement threshold.
• Covered product failure — when an eligible manufacturing, material, mechanism or structural failure occurs during intended use.

Each original protection period also includes one eligible No-Fault Replacement. This is intended for a qualifying unexpected event that is not classified as normal wear or a covered product failure — for example, accidental loss or accidental damage.

Once the included No-Fault Replacement has been used, it is considered consumed for that original protection period.

Over many years, a patient's dental or oral condition may change — for example, a new crown, an implant restoration, or tooth movement. These situations are different from normal wear or product failure, because the appliance itself may still function correctly while the patient's condition has changed.

Additional protection may be available for certain eligible dental or oral changes. The patient should contact the treating dentist for evaluation.

The dentist evaluates the clinical situation and, when replacement coordination is needed, communicates with Master Sleep on the patient's behalf.
